Although summer is not here, Albany has already seen a dangerous spike in gun violence.  Yesterday two people were shot in Albany and one of them was a young girl. The warm weather has sparked violence in the Capital Region.

According to News 10, a 20-year old person was shot in the back on Monday morning in the 300 block of Clinton Avenue.  Police have not released any more information about this shooting incident, but it is still under investigation.

Police responded to a call for shots fired on Wilbur Street in Albany around 9:00 p.m. on Monday night.  Shortly thereafter, they were called to the Albany Medical Center where a young girl arrived suffering from a gunshot wound.

Gun violence in our community is horrible.  We must all agree that gun violence is escalating to a level where it should not be acceptable to anyone.  A 15-year old girl had her life taken from her needlessly.  She was just a child and should have had a great future ahead of her, but sadly her life was cut short.  When did it become acceptable to shoot and kill our children?
