Driving in the Capital Region most of my life, I had no problem with roundabouts or as we called them growing up, Latham Circle. You see that was the only one we had and it worked very well. Everyone seemed to know what to do and traffic flowed pretty smoothly through that area. Well, a few years ago the roundabout game changed in my opinion.

We all of a sudden got roundabout happy especially in Malta. I think there are more roundabouts than there are houses on the stretch of Route 9 and Route 67. It's quite ridiculous. I'm not exaggerating, there are five, yes five roundabouts from the first one at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 67.

Name one driver that knows how to navigate just those five roundabouts that are only about thirty yards apart. I consider myself a safe and decent driver. There is always one of those roundabouts that I end up in the wrong lane. There have been countless times that I have seen a fender-bender in at least one of those circles.

What I am saying is that fellow navigators or the dreadful roundabouts in Malta, I feel your frustration and pain. I would rather sit at three lights for 5 minutes than travel that merry-go-round of dread. But thinking about navigating through just Malta I thought it would be useful to me and hopefully you to get a refresher on the proper way to travel through a roundabout. Here's a short video that can remind you of how it should go. I wish they had a video of how to travel through five of them at a time.
