When it comes to the best places to live in New York, this Capital Region county was recently recognized as the best in the state.

Life is pretty good here in the Capital Region, and according to Homesnacks is also the home of New York's Best County to live: Saratoga County! Homesnacks formulated their country rankings based on "...crime, cost of living, and demographic data for all 62 counties in the state." Saratoga scored high on several key data points, ranking seventh in the state for median income, thirteenth 7th in median home price, and second in the unemployment rate.

Data points like this are great, but what really makes Saratoga County the best in the state? As someone who calls Saratoga Country home, I like to think of the more tangible parts of our lifestyle. I am talking about the superlatives that make living here great:

  • A day on Saratoga Lake
  • Our amazing school systems like Shen
  • Our great mix of cities and rural landscapes
  • Strolling with the family through the Saratoga Country Fair
  • The birthday wings at the Rusty Nail
  • Chilling on the lawn for a show at SPAC
  • Driving the loop through Saratoga National Historical Park

I could go on and on, and I am sure you could as well if you live in Saratoga or one of the several other Capital Region counties that landed in the Homesnacks top ten: Warren (#5), Albany (#6), and Rensselaer (#8) also made the list! Life isn't always perfect here, but when you step back and take a good look around, life here is pretty sweet.
