Cuomo's Halloween Mandate a Welcome Treat

It seems like everything we're told to do or not do comes right down to the eleventh hour, but on Tuesday, the Governor made the announcement regarding Halloween. I'll admit, I was a little bit surprised that the Governor's ruling on trick-or-treating in New York state this Halloween came this soon.

CBS 6 News reported yesterday that Governor Cuomo announced in an interview that he was not going to tell people not to trick-or-treat saying, "You have neighbors, if you wanna go knock on your neighbor's door, God bless you."

The Gov also added. "If you want to go on a walk with your child through the neighborhood, I'm not going to tell you you can't take your child through your neighborhood."

This was a welcome announcement and may have come as a bit of a surprise considering that Los Angeles recently announced their ban on Halloween and Halloween parties. Most New Yorkers have grown accustom to waiting on baited breathe for what has typically been bad news when it comes to any types of public gathering.

But our Governor didn't take the bait -and for at least this one relatively consequential decision - he's allowing parents to make up their own minds up when it comes to Halloween. So that's the good news. But don't hold your breath, there's still at least 5 weeks left of decisions, changes, mandates and press conferences and as we know, things can change in a heartbeat.

But for now, at least Halloween may be somewhat para-normal.
