The New York Yankees might be starting to turn a corner after winning three straight games and sweeping their home side of the subway series last night vs the New York Mets.  However, I am still not a fan of the trades and new acquisitions that General Manager Brian Cashman brought in at the trade deadline.  Frankie Montas has not been good, Trivino and Effross have been inconsistent out of the bullpen and Benintendi is finally starting to come around and be clutch out of the lead off spot.  Here is my quick take on this from The Times Union:

Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman has to be second guessing himself when it comes to trading away Jordan Montgomery. Montgomery has been nothing short of spectacular with his new team, the St. Louis Cardinals. It’s a classic example of how things change when you’re not in the New York spotlight. Cashman made a mistake and it will comeback to haunt him this season. I don’t trust Gerrit Cole, Nestor Cortes or Domingo German when it comes to winning games in the post season. I would however trust Louis Castillo but Cashman couldn’t pull it off. Someone should remind Cashman that the Yankees have not won a Series since 2009.

MJ and I were joined by our good friend Pete Caldera from the USA Today does a great job covering the Yankees.  We had him on earlier this morning.  Below is our full interview with him.

The Yankees need to gain their first half momentum back with October and postseason baseball right around the corner.  Brian Cashman better not end up regretting what he and the organization did at the trade deadline.
