Expect Weeks of Gridlock and Detours for One of Albany's Busiest Areas

For the next few weeks, many commuters coming into, going around, or going through Albany can expect gridlock, delays, detours, and hopefully cooler heads as a massive dig is set to begin in a high-traffic part of town.

The lower part of Madison Avenue near Albany's Washington Park connects Lark Street to Delaware Ave and is just a few blocks from Downtown Albany.

It's a major hub for people who live in the area, possibly commute to downtown, or want to take Albany in Delmar or Bethlehem, and pockets of it will be under repair according to a Nixle report delivered by the Albany Police Department on Sunday.

What's being done to the streets?

According to the Albany Police, starting this morning (Monday) at 7:00 a.m., "the Albany Water Department will be making repairs near the intersection of Lark Street, Madison Avenue, and Delaware Avenue."

The repairs are said to be much-needed "infrastructure improvements" made beneath some of Albany's ancient roads.

How long is this going to last?

Most of the kids are on Spring Break all this week - and that's actually a piece of good news for area residents and people who commute through Albany on a regular basis.

The project, according to the Nixle post, might take a few weeks but is scheduled until Friday, April 29^th.

Work is scheduled to take place from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day except Sundays.

What about parking restrictions?

C'mon now...this is Albany.  Of course!

Parking restrictions will be on both sides of Lark Street from 302 Lark Street to Dana Avenue as well as on both sides of Dana Avenue from Delaware Avenue to Lark Street.

What if someone in traffic becomes irritable and upset?
