Valentines Day is right around the corner and if you want to make a dinner reservation to someplace unique you better get that reservation in ASAP.

My wife and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day with the traditional chocolate and flowers. We've always thought the "Hallmark Holiday" was a little silly. However, we do like good food in a unique spot. So that's what we usually do for the lover's holiday.

This morning I was making a reservation for our Valentine dinner at Old Daley on Crooked Lake...one of our favorite local places for a romantic dinner. I thought "I bet there are a lot of unique, local, hidden gems in the area that would be great for a special dinner."

Of course, there are plenty of great restaurants to eat at in the Capital Region. From small local restaurants to big chains we have it all. We like to find those out of the way, off the beaten path places that might offer a unique, romantic, or eclectic dining experience.

Whether it's eating in a castle, a mansion, or eating in the same dining room once graced by President Teddy Roosevelt during his time as governor of New York and the gangster Legs Diamond.

Here are a few of our favorite unique, off the beaten path, romantic Valentine's Day choices for your dinner. Make sure you make a reservation soon, they are all filling up quickly.
