If you want to live the life Greg Downing has lived, you'll need two things: frequent flyer miles, and a serious passion for the game you play.

Downing, who joins the FireWolves after spending the last two seasons with the New England Black Wolves, is entering his 13th season of National Lacrosse League play. Downing spent three seasons in Boston, four in Minnesota and another three in Colorado before joining the Black Wolves/FireWolves franchise in 2018. He's also been one of the most effective defenders in the NLL of late, with a career-high 188 loose balls collected two seasons ago.

Downing's career has taken him not only across the country, but across the world, playing against some of the best players in the world while representing the red, white and blue. Downing is a three-time member of Team USA when they've played in the Lacrosse World Championships, winning bronze medals in 2011 and 2015, and representing the country again in 2019.

Downing told us on Levack & Bahl how honored he was to be able to pull on a jersey with "USA" across the front, and values those memories as much as any others he's had in his career. He also touched on how much the sport has grown during his career, and how the United States continues to ascend the rankings of the world's most talented lacrosse nations.

Capital Region fans can see Greg and the rest of the FireWolves take the field at the Times Union Center for the 2021-22 NLL season. Visit AlbanyFireWolves.com for more information about schedules, tickets, promotions and more!
