This year the Adirondack Harvest Festival will be changing from a one-day event to a full week of farm fun. It will be not only fun but educational as the agricultural group, Adirondack Harvest is getting the word out about sustainable farming and community. The Open Farm Week will run from September 13th through the 19th according to News 10 ABC.

The Adirondack Harvest Festival is a series of different events spread throughout the North Country. Now that it will run for an entire week, there is a good chance you can hit up all of the events. There will be farm tours, activities, and over seventy-five other events on the schedule.

There is something for everyone including wine tastings at Four Maples Vineyard in Champlain, you can go through a corn maze, take wagon rides, pick-your-own pumpkins, check out the petting zoo at Country Dreams Farm in Plattsburgh, hot air balloon rides at Mossbrook Roots Flower Farm in Keeseville, bird watching hikes at Barred Owl Brook Farm in Essex and Ben Wever Farm in Willsboro. There is also a medicinal plant workshop and sale at the Plattsburgh Botanical Sanctuary, and a lot more.

The main goal of Open Farm Week is to have community members and visitors to be educated by their neighborhood farmers. They can get a close-up look at how food is grown and harvested. They will also be able to taste the different products that are produced right in the Adirondacks.

Plus there will be a chance to win a two hundred dollar gift certificate in a raffle that you can use at any of the businesses that are part of the Adirondack Harvest Festival Open Farm Week.
