Gas Prices Increase For Holiday Weekend

Many places are starting to slowly open again and more people want to get out and travel. As everything slowly gets going, gas prices are starting to rise just in time for the holiday weekend. I can't wait to be able to go away and travel, by car, but now that restrictions are starting to ease, it looks as if gas prices are going back up. It's not only in the Capital Region, but it's also across New York state and the country.

There's nothing like taking a road trip, especially after being locked down for two-plus months. WKBW.com says It may cost you a little more if you are traveling this holiday weekend. According to Gas Prices.com, the average price for a gallon of gas in about $2.16. The lowest is around $1.97 and the highest is about $2.29. But the American Automobile Association (AAA) says that gas prices are on the rise because of demand is on the increase with restrictions being lifted.

The silver lining is that gas prices are about one dollar cheaper than they were just one year ago.

Whether you plan on traveling this weekend for the Memorial Day weekend, or gas up your boat, you will be paying more at the pump. Now that the coronavirus pandemic is slowly subsiding and restrictions are being lifted, the price of gas will continue to increase due to demand and more cars on the road.
