Get Your COVID Vaccines On-The-Fly in Albany!

Need some news to help you fly a little higher this week? Well, Albany International Airport may have the news you're looking for.

As News 10 in Albany wrote about earlier today, the Capital Region airport is one of seven announced locations of a COVID-19 vaccine airport pop-up site, a plan that was rolled out a few days ago from Governor Andrew Cuomo. The airport will be providing doses of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine to travelers departing and arriving the airport, as well as the general public, in the short-term parking lot.

The Colonie EMS department will be administering the vaccine each day from 9:30AM - 4:30PM beginning today, May 24th, through the end of the week ending on the 28th. Again, this is for ANYONE, not just travelers. So, head to Albany Shaker Rd in Colonie, NY to get in line.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine was recommended to resume distribution and administration in the United States on April 23rd, 2021, but the CDC did put out this statement regarding its safety:

Women younger than 50 years old especially should be aware of the rare risk of blood clots with low platelets after vaccination, and that other COVID-19 vaccines are available where this risk has not been seen. - CDC

That said, we've had a number of teams announced vaccinated sections at their events over the past few weeks. The Tri-City ValleyCats will have vaccinated sections at the Joe, while the New York Mets will, as well. As sports return back to normal, being ahead of the curve with the vaccine will only continue the trend.
