It's tough news from another local bar and restaurant.

We have heard about too many closures like this over the last 6 months, and it never gets easier to hear this type of news. According to a post on their Facebook page, The Glass Tavern on Route 50 in Glenville is closing. They made the following announcement on their Facebook page today:

One light ray of light from this Facebook post is it does say "until further notice." So one would hope there is a chance this closing is not permanent.

The list of not only local restaurants and bars that have closed but businesses, in general, has been tough to absorb during the pandemic. These are local business owners not only providing a service to us in the community but more importantly employing our neighbors. You definitely feel for owners, operators, and employees and the toll the pandemic has taken on so many in the Capital Region.

After the news of what looks like a very promising vaccine broke yesterday, we are finally getting some light at the end of the tunnel as far as the pandemic goes. But will it be enough for some businesses teetering on the brink of closing to push through the next few months? Only time will tell, but I fear we may hear of more of these pandemic closings before things really start getting better. So what can we do? Support all your local business owners the best way possible: spend some money with them! While the pandemic is certainly better than it was in the Spring, it looks like this fall could be a tough stretch and we know the best way to get through it is to not only stick with the masks and the social distancing but also support all of our local establishments.
