A Glenville family is lucky that no one was hurt when high winds caused a tree to fall on their home Friday afternoon, smashing their garage to bits, burying their vehicle, and leaving the homeowners with little options without a place to stay or a car to drive.

According to a report from News Channel 13, the tree fell onto the home located at 47 Woodcrest Drive in Glenville at around noon on Friday due to extreme heavy winds.

CBS 6 News says the home belongs to to the Drapo family, and husband Bill Drapo was at work when he got the call from his wife telling him what happened.  It's a miracle that no one was hurt as the report goes on to explain that Bill's wife had been inside the garage just moments before the massive tree came down.

"The building inspector came and says the house isn't safe to live in right now. The homeowner is still trying to get the insurance company here and find someone to remove the tree." CBS 6 News

The dramatic video below was taken by News Channel 13 a few hours after the storm had passed.  It shows extensive damage to the garage as well as the family vehicle which appears to have been flattened while parked inside the garage.

The Drapo's told CBS 6 News that they're not sure where they plan on staying and without a car, their options are quite limited.

To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
