Even though summer is winding down, you may still be enjoying the outdoors and nature. If you are on a hike or come across this insect, make sure you don't touch it.  According to News 10 ABC, there is a certain caterpillar that is native to our area here in the Capital Region. The hickory tussock moth caterpillar is easy to see too. It is a bright white, fuzzy caterpillar. If you do find one, you shouldn't touch it.

Some people who come in contact with this white caterpillar can get an itchy rash if they touch it. Experts say there are only a small number of people who will have the reaction but you are still advised not to touch it.

This certain caterpillar does not affect the environment at all. More importantly, these fuzzy white caterpillars will not affect your pets in any way. They just may cause humans to have a skin reaction.
