Hey there! I'm Cameron Coats, and I'll be getting your weekdays started 6-10a here on The Breeze. I'm so thrilled to be here in the Capital Region and call such a fun station home. It's great to meet you. Here's a little about myself:

I'm a Nashville, Tennessee native who grew up listening to the radio every day. Nashville, being Music City, is an entertainer's town, so that atmosphere played out pretty well on me. My parents would keep it on in the car on the way to school. Dad likes country, Mom likes Oldies, and back home at night I would hit the scan button on the boombox in my room listening for the most exciting and fun radio personalities. When I grew up I always wanted to be an astronaut or a radio DJ.

I graduated from Western Kentucky University (Go Tops!) in Bowling Green, Kentucky with a broadcasting degree. After that, I worked mornings on a small Top 40 station and then a much larger Adult Contemporary station at a great local company for six years.

Before I moved to Troy in April, my fiancée and I took a year post-lockdown to travel. It's one of our favorite things. We explored the US via car and train and spent a few months in Europe hopping country to country. and staying in lots of interesting AirBnbs that our budget could support.

My family

Most of my blood relatives still live in and around Tennessee.

I have a wonderful fiancée, Kirsten. We started as friends for several years before we realized our connection went beyond that and started dating. We got engaged in May 2021. Kirsten loves historic preservation and restoration and hates hot summers, so this area is perfect.

Kirsten and I have a wonderful cat named Anya. She's a black and white, laying on my hand while I try to type this, and her favorite thing about me having a morning show is that I'm up very early to feed her.

What am I listening to off-air?

Musically, the Breeze is a great fit for me. I love 80s music, modern rock like Nashville's own Kings of Leon, and I believe in Yacht Rock supremacy. Getting to see Michael McDonald at SPAC has been one of my highlights of living here so far.

Where you're likely to find me out in the Capital Region

I'm a big fan of Minor and Independent League Baseball, so you'll definitely see me out at The Joe for ValleyCats games. I'll be the one wearing the lucky Hot Dog Hat!

I live in Downtown Troy, so every Saturday I'm outside at the River Street Farmers Market sampling street food and coffee.

Live music is one of my favorite things to experience, so you'll find me at lots of shows. One of the hardest things about the pandemic lockdown for me was having to live a year with no concerts!

Eating! I love to cook, but I also love trying new foods and restaurants just as much. I'm a sucker for Indian, Italian, and a great hot dog (but probably not all in one sitting).

But like I told you, I'm thrilled to be here in the Capital Region and starting your day with Cameron in the Morning! Feel free to email me to say hey anytime or find me on social media.
