Dion Lewis, running back for the New York Giants has had an esteemed NFL career spanning nearly a decade.  As a member of the New England Patriots for multiple seasons, Lewis helped New England win a Super Bowl World Championship back in February of 2017 when his Pats beat the Atlanta Falcons in a game that will be remembered as one the greatest comebacks in the history of the league.

While his accomplishments in the NFL are firmly cemented, it's his roots deeply tied the Capital Region that are most notable if you ask the people who know him.  Dion Lewis grew up in Albany and played high school football for Albany High and Albany Academy before transferring to a prep school in New jersey.

Recently, according to the City of Albany School District, Lewis attended a virtual meeting with members of the Albany High football team where he graciously spoke to young athletes hoping to inspire them with stories of his success in high school, college and professionally.

After the meeting, it was learned that on behalf of the New York Giants football team and Dion Lewis himself, $10,000 was given to the Albany High School Falcons football team that will be put towards equipment.

"I am extremely grateful to Mr. Lewis and the Giants for this incredible gift that will support and grow Falcon football for years to come," said Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Ashley Chapple according to the district website.
