In an effort to give to those in need during the pandemic, New York dairy farmers will be supplying local food banks. This will also help distribute their excess product. State dairy producers had been dumping their milk supplies lately because the coronavirus pandemic had hindered the distribution of their dairy products.

According to CBS 6 News, Governor Andrew Cuomo said that New York state will team up with dairy farmers and producers to distribute and process the milk surplus to those in need and to local food banks.

It's called the Nourish New York Initiative and the state, dairy producers, and upstate farms will purchase good and milk products. Those extra products will be sent to food banks across the state.

The dairy will also be sent to processing plants and it will be used to make cheese, yogurt, cream cheese, and sour cream that will also be sent to those who need it.
