NY Trooper Rescues Man Trapped in His Car For 10 Hours
Here's another crazy story from Thursday's snowstorm. First, we had the crazy story of the 12-year-old girl that was buried by a family member that was plowing snow, and now a story about a man's car was buried in the snow by a plow with him in it.
Troopers from Troop C in Tioga County were busy dealing with tons of calls from the overnight snowstorm including several calls from a man trapped in his car in a snowbank, but for some reason, he was having a hard time telling them exactly where he was.
Thursday morning New York State Trooper Zone Sgt. Jason Cawley checked in with 911 to see if there were any unanswered calls. They told him about the man that was trapped in the snow and that they couldn't figure out where he was located.
According to a press release from State Police, Cawley drove to the area of State Route 17C in the town of Owego, in the Campville area. He drove around, but couldn’t locate the driver. He spotted a row of mailboxes on the side of the road, stopped, and waded through the snow to check the addresses. While digging, he hit the windshield of a car, inside the car was the driver, Kevin Kresen, 58, of Candor, who had been making the 911 calls. He told Trooper Crowley that he had been plowed in by a truck and the car covered with close to four feet of snow.
Kresen was suffering from hypothermia and dehydration and was taken to the hospital where he's recovering now.
