Pier 1 Will Close Half of Their Stores
Pier 1 Imports says it will close up to half of its stores nationwide. What will the fate be of the ones that are in the Capital Region? According to WGRZ, Pier 1 Imports is getting ready to file bankruptcy and with it comes the closing of nearly four hundred and fifty stores nationwide. It will obviously be cutting a substantial amount of its staff too.
Pier 1 sites the online and "big-box" stores for hurting their sales inside their brick and mortar stores. They will need to close nearly half of their stores to reduce corporate expenses and overhead staffing.
There are three Pier 1 Imports stores in the Capital Region. There is a Pier 1 on Wolf Road in Colonie, another near Clifton Park Center in Clifton Park, and one located in Saratoga Springs off of Route 50. There is no word yet if any of our Pier 1 Imports stores will be part of the four hundred fifty that are closing. An announcement should be made soon.
