Popular Schenectady Mexican Restaurant is For Sale

Mexican Radio, the popular Mexican restaurant in Schenectady is up for sale. So, does that mean Mexican Radio is closing its doors? Not necessarily.

Mexican Radio started life as a tiny Mexican restaurant in Manhatten in 1996. From there it grew with locations in Hudson and Schenectady. According to the Times Union the original Mexican Radio location closed in 2017, the Hudson location closed in 2019 and now it looks like the Schenectady location is on the verge of closing.

The brightly painted Mexican Radio building in Schenectady is actually three buildings covering most of the corner of State Street and Broadway.

The building is 28,000 square feet that include three floors and a large patio area. The building includes two full line kitchens.  There is also an owner's apartment and offices. The asking price is $2,950,000 according to the listing by CBRE Albany.

I have been to Mexican Radio several times since moving to the Capital Region. Great margaritas, awesome food, and all in a beautiful downtown Schenectady setting. Hopefully, someone will come along and purchase the building and keep Mexican Radio alive. Good Mexican food is hard to find and I'd hate to lose another great restaurant in the Capital Region.

Currently, Mexican Radio is still open and serving lunch and dinner, for dine-in, takeout and delivery, Wednesday through Sunday. No word on when or if that will change in the near future.
