Torrential rain from the effects of Hurricane Isaias caused roads to flood and power outages for thousands across the Capital Region.

During yesterday's storm, I had the chance to see some of its damage firsthand. I was driving on Western Ave in Albany and as I arrived at the intersection of Fuller Road, I could see that there was some flooding. Law enforcement and emergency apparatus had the whole road blocked off between Fuller Rd and Schoolhouse Rd.

This area is among the few locations in the Capital Region that are known for flooding when major downpours occur. But I had never seen it this bad before. The flooded area was the size of a small pond. There was a black car submerged in water. No one was injured or harmed. You would think after all these years that the city's engineering dept would figure out a way to solve this problem.

According to CBS 6 News, National Grid estimated that as many as 30,000 people lost their power during the storm. They had 500 crew members out working to restore the power.

In the video below I made my short debut as a news reporter. Dj Biz reporting live from the scene!
