The coronavirus has canceled many festivals, gatherings, and parades, The pandemic isn't going to stop this one town in Saratoga County They are making plans to hold a Fourth of July parade with guidelines. As we move into Phase 2 of reopenings in the Capital Region, many towns and cities are evaluating the possibilities of holding fireworks and celebrations. According to News Channel 13, the Town of Clifton Park announced that it will be holding its annual Fourth of July parade this year despite the pandemic.

There will be changes, however. The parade will not have participants walking or marching bands like parades of years past. It will strictly be a vehicle parade due to the coronavirus.

There will be people along the parade route. All spectators must follow social distancing guidelines. If you aren't comfortable attending the parade along the route, they are making the parade available by streaming it on Facebook Live.

The parade will be held on Saturday, July 4th beginning at noon.

The fireworks, however, will not be happening for the Fourth of July weekend. The Town of Clifton Park says that they financially cannot afford to have the show because of shortfalls during the pandemic. They are planning to have fireworks on September 5th.

I am hoping that more cities and towns throughout the Capital Region will follow the Town of Clifton Park. It would be nice to celebrate Independence Day even if it is with a celebratory car parade.
