Many thought it was a great idea when it was initially introduced, and as expected, restaurant-goers in Saratoga County really chewed it up on Thursday night.  The very first 'Split the Bill' promotion was a huge success and will likely be back in you missed it on Thursday. Thousands supported the one-night attempt to give local restaurants a boost during the pandemic while saving-starved Capital Region residents got a chance to get their cheap eats on.

When it was all said and done, local restaurants and foodies alike were licking their chops.  The promotion was so successful, be looking out for Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady counties to join in as well.

According to the Times Union, over 2000 Capital Region residents spent roughly $180,000 dollars on delivery or take-out Thursday patronizing the nearly three dozen restaurants that were part of the promotion designed to "support  local restaurants, their hardworking employees and the community during this time of economic hardship."

The response was so good, that according to the Times Union, the Split the Bill promotion may be in Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady counties as well down the road.

The concept is simple: Pick a restaurant then place your order - either dine-in or take-out. Then, before you chow down take two pictures.  One of your meal and your receipt.  Once you've eaten your meal, submit the reimbursement form online, and you'll get 50% of your receipt back total up to $30. Once your form is approved, Split the Bill will send your reimbursement via PayPal/Venmo.
