There's been a lot of hype and talk surrounding lottery drawings recently.  Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots have soared and these gigantic grand prizes are trending up towards a billion dollars as a result of nobody winning in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, a lottery ticket was sold to a local player who may not have cashed out  the type of life-changing money that those grand prizes afford, but $70,000 - these days - is nothing too sneeze at.

According to the Daily Gazette, a nearly $71,000  prize was doled out to a lottery player after they purchased a Quick Pick at the Price Chopper on Altamont Ave in Rotterdam on Wednesday.

The New York State Lottery jackpot was over 15 million dollars for that game, and the money won on Wednesday was a second place prize according to the source.  The winning numbers were : 15,24,4452,54,57 and 35
On the New York State Lottery website, they're hyping the combined Powerball and Mega Million jackpots that are sitting at a total of 1.3 billion dollars. Tonight's Mega Million jackpot is up 750 million and Saturday night's Powerball drawing is up to 640 million.

According to the Daily Gazette, sales of lottery tickets for Mega and Powerball inside Price Chopper locations have been ramping up with these ginormous life-changing payouts.

While $70,000 isn't the type of payout that will garner national headlines (or even local ones) it's still significant.  And in the middle of a pandemic, it just might be life-changing enough for the person who won it.
