More jobs are coming to Schodack with the approval of a second Amazon Distribution Center. There is approval for the construction of a second Amazon warehouse in the town of Schodack in Rensselaer County. It was unanimously approved.

It is unclear how many workers this new Amazon facility will hire but the parking lot is slated to have four hundred parking spaces. The new warehouse will be a two hundred seventy-eight thousand six hundred seventy square foot facility. It will be built in Schodack on the south side of Route 150 at the intersection of U.S. 9 and 20 according to the Albany Business Review.

The other Amazon warehouse which opened last year has over one thousand employees. The property will be leased much like the other Amazon distribution warehouse that is nearly one million square feet. It will be built on forty-one acres and part of the land will remain undeveloped.

To cut down noise in the nearby neighborhoods, a sound wall will be built. This sound wall will be fifteen hundred feet long and fifteen to twenty feet high. The other sound wall is five hundred feet long and fifteen feet high.

Schodack was the desired location because it is conveniently off of I-90 at exit 11 which is easily accessible for tractor-trailers. There will have to be some traffic signal upgrades in that area and they are working closely with the Department of Transportation.

Amazon has two delivery stations that are much smaller in the Capital Region. One is in Latham and the other facility in Cohoes is in the planning stages to open soon.
