Today there will be high humidity and a heat index of one hundred and four. That's why Albany will be extending its splash pad and pool hours. Albany and other Capital Region cities will be offering cooling centers as well.

It sure helps that there are splash pads and pools open in Albany to beat these hot and humid days and now Mayor Kathy Sheehan says they will need to stay open later to make sure residents can cool down according to CBS 6 Albany. Here's what she had to say:

I know that’s it’s going to get really hot today! It’s going to be hot for the next few days, so we want people to have a place to cool off.

There are splash pads and pools throughout the city of Albany that residents can use. These pools and splash pads aren't just for kids, adults should take full advantage. Mayor Kathy Sheehan also warns adults not to over-exert themselves outdoors. She says that you should stay hydrated, be aware of signs if you are overheating, and not do strenuous activities outdoors like mowing the lawn.

There are splash pads and pools throughout the City of Albany and are open Thursday and Friday until 8 pm instead of 6 pm.
