Calling all Capital Region photographers. If you just like to take pictures for fun or you do it professionally, you have a chance to have your pictures highlighted as part of the Erie Canalway 2022 calendar. Here are the details and how to submit them.

For the fifteenth year, The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor is looking for all kinds of perspectives in photographs of the Erie Canal. They are looking for images to show the unique character of the canal communities and the local canals. They want the photos to show the many things to do along the Canalway and capture the beauty of the canal and what it has to offer. You must take pictures along the Erie Canalway which offers five hundred and twenty-four miles of waterways. There are two hundred thirty communities along the Erie Canalway. The canal system consists of the Erie, Cayuga-Seneca, Oswego, and Champlain canals which encompass over two hundred thirty communities according to News 10 ABC.

There are four categories in this contest. They are "On the Water", "Along the Trail", "Canal Communities", and "Classic Canal". There will be first, second, and third places selected from judges in each of these categories plus twelve honorable mentions. The criteria are creativity, quality of the picture, and effectiveness.

All entries must be received by August 27th. They must be submitted in a horizontal landscape format. All winners will be part of the 2022 Erie Canalway calendar. To submit a photo and get the official rules, click HERE.
