Another long-time restaurant chain is filing for bankruptcy citing the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Friendly's has two locations in the Capital Region and we may lose them if they choose to close some of their restaurants across the country.
A few weeks ago, JC Penney filed for bankruptcy and announced that they would start closing stores all across the country. They are closing one hundred fifty-four stores this summer and it looks as if the Capital Region department stores are safe, for now.
Unfortunately, it looks like COVID-19 has delt Tuesday Morning a set back in the form of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and it plans on closing 230 of its 687 stores over the summer.
It seems every few days a retail store is either filing for bankruptcy or going out of business for good. Another store has just announced that it will be closing hundreds of its stores because of the decline in sales due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The latest store to file for bankruptcy and going out of business is Pier 1 Imports. This seems to be the trend because of a variety of factors including the coronavirus pandemic.
