Taylor Swift is the latest singer to release a festive holiday tune. She dropped a new song called "Christmas Tree Farm" at midnight on Thursday (Dec. 5), and the video features precious footage from her childhood.

The country-turned-pop star shared the news via an iPhone video posted to her official Twitter account. In the clip, Swift announces that she has "just written a Christmas song" and that she does not want to wait another year to put out the festive tune.

"I don't know what to do," she says — so, to find her answer, Swift does what any sensible pop star would do: She consults her cats.

There was bad news for Swift, however, as her cats, Meredith, Olivia and Benjamin, did not give the singer a straight answer (or any answer at all, really). All three appeared to be more interested in sleeping, playing and grooming themselves.

"When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee. When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs ... just put the song out anyway," Swift writes on Twitter. "NEW XMAS SONG AND VIDEO (made from home videos) OUT TONIGHT #ChristmasTreeFarm."

The new song's title is rooted in Swift's childhood: The singer grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania before her family moved to Nashville, and the adorable video for "Christmas Tree Farm" includes footage of young Taylor playing in the snow, watching a toy train run by the tree and more.

Netflix announced earlier this week that Swift will debut her new Netflix documentary, Miss Americana, at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2020. The star will also make her way to theaters on Dec. 20, when the movie Cats is released. Swift stars in the Broadway musical-turned-film as Bombalurina; the "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" singer also co-wrote the song "Beautiful Ghosts" for the film alongside famed composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
