The Capital Region’s Top 5 Seafood Restaurants According To Trip Advisor

I grew up with plenty of family outings enjoying freshly steamed crabs in the summer, but I didn’t know that you could also get fresh crabs right here in New York. Although I have no intentions to go out crabbing, I really enjoy eating crabs and wanted to know where I can get some good seafood in the Capital Region. TripAdvisor has recently given us their top places to enjoy seafood in the Albany area and I intend to check some of these restaurants out.

Tripadvisor went through a list of seafood restaurants in the area and they rated them on a scale from 1 to 5 with specific ratings for the food itself, the service in the restaurant, and the value of the food. Let’s take a look and see what they found.

Coming in at #5 was Ted’s Fish Fry. Ted’s Fish Fry is located at 1645 Western Ave., Albany, NY 12203. The restaurant is listed as a Seafood/Fast Food Restaurant. They received a 3.5 out of 5 after 19 reviews. Eight people rated the restaurant as excellent, two said it was very good, three rated it average, one person said it was poor and five people said it was terrible. (With these ratings I don’t see how this establishment came in at number five; but this is not my survey).

In at #4 is The Boil Shack. The Boil Shack is listed as a Seafood, American, Cajun & Creole restaurant and it is located at 59 Wolf Road., Albany, NY 12205. They are rated 3.0 with 37 reviews. They received 3.5 for Food, 4.0 for Service, and 2.5 for Value. Maybe I’m picky but a 3.0 rating out of five doesn’t seem very appealing to me.

In at #3 is Ted’s Fish Fry. They are located at 203 Wolf Rd. #1, Albany, NY 12205. They are listed as an American, Seafood establishment. They had a total of 4.0 after 113 reviews. They got 3.5 for Food, 3.5 for Service, 3.5 for Value and 3.0 for Atmosphere. They rated much better than the Western Avenue location.

The #2 spot goes to Jack’s Oyster House. Jack’s Oyster House is located at 42-44 State Street, Albany, NY 12207. They are listed as a Local Cuisine, American, Seafood, Gluten Free Option restaurant. They received a 4.0 rating with 521 reviews. They got 4.0 for Food, a 4.0 for Service, 3.5 for Value, and 4.0 for Atmosphere.

In at #1 is Black & Blue Steak and Crab. Black & Blue Steak and Crab is located at 1470 Western Ave., Albany, NY 12203. They are recommended for
Special Occasions, Romantic Dinners, Large Groups, Bar Scene, and Business Meetings. They received a 4.0 rating with 307 reviews. They got 4.5 for Food, 4.5 for Service, and 3.5 for Value. With high ratings for food and service, one would assume that this restaurant is a little pricey since it only got 3.5 for value.
