I have to admit, I love a good donut, and as far as I'm concerned the more donut shops there are in Upstate New York the better. Of course, you have the beloved standard Dunkin, the delicious gourmet Cider Belly Donuts, Schuyler Bakery's glazed maple donuts, and Indian Ladder Farms with their melt in your mouth cider donuts.....and now, I'm ready for a Capital Region Donut Tour.

I lived in South Carolina for two years and I made the hour and a half drive to North Carolina for these donuts a couple of times. It was totally worth it.

Duck Donuts is opening its first Upstate location in Latham, New York in Latham Farms according to the Times Union. Duck Donuts has about 90 locations with a couple of others in New York, including Westchester County and on Long Island.

The "hook" with Duck Donuts is that they offer "decorated-to-go" donuts that you order and they make them while you wait. They have a ton of options like different coatings, toppings, and drizzles. Believe it or not, they even offer catering. They even offer breakfast sandwiches with eggs and bacon on a donut...mmmmmm.

No word yet on when the new location Duck Donuts at 579 Troy Schenectady Road
Latham, NY 12110 will open, but be sure I'll be in line for a dozen when they do.
