At Q1057 we play the greatest Classic Rock songs of all time, all day, every day but we aren't just Rockers! As supporters of the arts we are proud to congratulate The Albany Symphony and their nomination for a Grammy Award! The Albany Symphony has a piece nominated in the "Best Classical Instrumental Solo" category.

The pandemic has made life difficult for all of us and the arts have been hit as hard, if not harder, than anyone. Artists, performers, musicians, promoters, sound engineers, composers, booking agents, road crews, stage hands and more have seen their once Teflon industry temporarily disappear.

As someone in the music business I spend an awful lot of time at live performances. In 2019, for example, I was fortunate enough to attend 60 concerts. In 2020 I have attended 5, including a socially distant show outside in September.

The Albany Symphony re-imagined their 2020-2021 season. Yes, they are able to continue performing and the virtual experience offers the opportunity to stay in business but at a cost compared to a typical season.

I have spent some of this year watching virtual and pre-recorded performances by artists such as The Rolling Stones, Keith Urban, The Glorious Sons, Metallica and Whiskey Myers to name a few. Maybe it is time to branch out and support a different genre for me.

The Albany Symphony has several performances on the calendar with the Beethoven Birthday Bash - Forever Young taking place on Saturday December 12th at 7:30pm. Click HERE to subscribe and see this virtual performance and others.

Congratulations to Music Director David Alan Miller and the Albany Symphony on the nomination. Also in the category are the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Boston Symphony.
