Two cities in New York State have made the list of the unhappiest places to live in America. WalletHub released its study of the happiest places to live for 2022 and these two cities were very low on the list. Two other New York cities made the list but were significantly higher. WalletHub looked at the largest 182 cities in the United States to determine the happiest places in the country. It points out that location has a lot to do with happiness levels, but money plays a limited role (even though most of us believe that the more money we make the happier we will be). In order to determine the happiest cities in America, WalletHub compared 182 of the largest cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — across three key dimensions: 1) Emotional & Physical Well-Being, 2) Income & Employment and 3) Community & Environment.
The 30 metrics used include each city's depression rate, suicide rate, income-growth rate, job satisfaction, separation & divorce rate, and average leisure time spent per day.
Four New York Cities made the list in total, but two were ranked higher, meaning they are actually happier places to live:

Top 10 Happiest Cities In America
It would seem that if you want to live in a happy city, you need to head out west, specifically California. Of the top 10 happiest cities according to WalletHub, six of them are in Cali and one is in Washington State.
