I have a couple of friends in the military and they've told me one of the hardest things about serving is being away from friends and family during the holidays. Not just those men and women in uniform that are deployed overseas, but those serving all over our country and can't get home during the Christmas season.

One local Christmas Tree Farm is trying to bring home and the holidays to our troops one tree at a time.

For 16 years, Ellms Christmas Tree Farm in Ballston Spa has worked with Trees for Troops. They have donated hundreds of pine trees to the organization over the years hoping to bring a little Christmas cheer to our men and women in uniform. This year the trees that are donated by Ellms Christmas Tree Farm will be headed to military bases in Georgia and Florida.

Since Trees for Troops started in 2005 over 191,000 Christmas Trees have been donated to military families and troops.

It seems like such a small thing, but to a member of our military serving away from home, it's the small things that matter so much. Especially around the holidays. Just the sight of a decorated tree can bring a smile to a service member's face and that's why Ellms Christmas Tree Farm donates trees every year.

Trees for Troops takes donations to help deliver thousands of trees all over the world to our troops. If you'd like to help go to Trees for Troops.
