Your cat is trying to tell you something. What is it? You may think you understand but soon you will know for certain.

If you own a pet you really get to know their personality as time goes by. You understand when they are grumpy and when they have to go to the bathroom but you are really just making an educated guess. In the near future your cat may be able to tell you exactly what they are thinking. In English!

A former Amazon engineer is developing an app called "Meow Talk" that will be able to translate cat meows into English. Imagine your cat being able to articulate messages like "Where's mommy?" or "I'm hungry".

My girlfriend has a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named "Mondo" that I now consider to be one of my best friends. Over the last 2 years or more we have developed an impression of Mondo that we apply to him on a daily basis. Picture, if you are old enough, the voice of the dog Goliath on the clay-animated children's television series from the 60's and 70's "Davey and Goliath". We feel this is what Mondo would sound like if he could speak English.

Up until now we have had to use our own creativity and imagination when communicating with Mondo and I would imagine you have had some close to insane conversations with your pet. Does "Helloooo Mr. Bean. Beanzie, McBeanie Baby! Mommy's home!" sound familiar?

The Meow Talk app will translate 9 different "intents" so that your cat can literally tell you when he is happy, sad or hungry. He can even say "Let me in" when he is at the door. The app is still under development but in time these conversations could be happening in your home.

Maybe we will finally know why cats suddenly run into another room as if they are late.
