Young Country Riser from Upstate NY Gets Dream Gig with Blake Shelton!
David J, a rising country artist from Rotterdam, is on the verge of blowing up. But his latest opportunity from Blake Shelton might be his most exciting news yet!
Blake Shelton is an industry giant who over time, not only established himself as one of country music's biggest and most accomplished artists, but he's a legit TV star, playing the lighthearted role of a feisty and cocky - albeit very successful - leader of Team Blake on NBC's The Voice.
As you can imagine, Shelton's popularity soared during his decade-long run on the hit television show, using his stardom to help out the next wave of singer-songwriters.
That brings us to 19-year-old David J, the budding country music star from Rotterdam who has been making quite a name for himself here in the Capital Region for years. But the news he received recently from Blake Shelton, is next-level!
On his Instagram page, David announced to his fans that he's been tabbed to open up for Blake Shelton during a show on his Spring Break 22 Tour this weekend in Florida.
David J, from Rotterdam, has been added to the show in Orlando that also features Sean 19 winner of The Voice, Carter Rubin.
When he's not playing gigs in Saratoga, Troy, Albany, Lake George, or Clifton Park, David's grinding it on the road - taking trips to and from Nashville - meeting with producers, artists, and songwriters in an attempt to catch his big break.
David told us he's scheduled for an upcoming show at Ol Red in Nashville - a restaurant, bar, and music venue owned by Shelton, and when the country star's manager needed an act for an upcoming show in Orlando, they called the kid from Rotterdam.
Back in September, when his single "Lost My Heartbreak" was soaring up country music streaming charts, we featured a story about him stating that we all knew it was just a matter of time before he popped, "The kid has talent, style, and the hustle needed to make it in this very difficult industry and you just get the feeling that he's super close."
And after this weekend, he'll be even closer!
