After months of waiting, Crossgates Mall and Colonie Center, the Capital Region's biggest and busiest malls will finally be open for business this weekend.  Under the new COVID-19 safety protocols mapped out by the Governor, the CDC and the malls themselves, things will be different before and after you enter.  Here are some of the  changes you should know about if you plan on hitting up either mall this weekend.

First and foremost according to CBS 6 News, Crossgates Mall will open up on Friday while Colonie will open up on Saturday.  Both malls have newly adjusted hours:

CBS 6 News  reports that the new Crossgates Mall hours will go into effect on Friday and they are Monday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.; Sunday, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Colonie Center posted this to their Facebook page: "We are excited to reopen our doors to the community on Saturday, July 11. Colonie Center's new temporary hours will be 11am-6pm daily. Entrances will be open at 10am for walking."

Mall hours aren't the only discernible difference you'll notice at Colonie Center and Crossgates Mall.  The shopping experience inside both will feature CDC compliant guidelines to ensure customer and employee safety.

According to the report, hand sanitizer stations will be prominent throughout the space, 6 feet social distancing will be "encouraged" and a mask must be worn at all times inside the mall.

Individual stores inside each mall may have some adjusted hours and protocol as well.  It's probably a good idea to check out the Crossgates Mall or Colonie Center websites for more information before shopping.
