Today is Your Last Day to Register to Vote
If you haven't registered to vote in the state of New York...your time is running out...quickly. Today, October 9th is the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming November election.
So, what if you haven't registered yet? What should you do to make sure you're registered and ready to vote?
The most direct way to register to vote is to print off the voter registration paperwork form from the New York State Board of Elections, fill it out and drop it off in person at the nearest Board of Elections office, or even the DMV.
If you want to mail your voter registration just be sure it's postmarked no later than today, October 9th and you should be all set. It just has to get to the Board of Elections by October 14th.
There are a couple of online ways to register and check your voter registration. For NYC there is a totally online option to register to vote. New York City voters can go to the NYC Voter Registration website and register today before midnight. The rest of the state isn't so lucky. There is an online option at the New York State Board of Elections, but it claims it takes six weeks for the registration to be processed. So, don't do that. You can check your voter registration status and when you need to vote there as well. Online registration to vote will be available sometime in 2021 for the rest of the state.
It boils down to this if you want to vote on November 3rd, drop what you're doing, print out the voter registration form, and drop it off at the Board of Elections or DMV before they close today.
Also, put these dates on your calendar, the deadline to request an absentee ballot is October 27. Early Voting starts on October 24.
