With the vaccine now available in the Capital Region, there is a need for volunteers at local hospitals. Here's who they are looking for to help with the vaccinations. According to CBS 6 Albany, Albany Medical Center is one of ten regional vaccination centers that have been asked to administer the coronavirus vaccine but they are looking for volunteers to help. They are looking at vaccinating nearly one million people in the Capital Region by giving them two shots each. So many volunteers are needed.

Being one of the ten regional vaccination centers across New York state, Albany Medical Center is getting the word out through their website capitalregionvax.org. Here you can find information on how to become a volunteer. Dr. Dennis McKenna, the President, and CEO of Albany Med said,

We've already begun to reach out to community businesses that can help in the area, and I think next week we're going to be able to announce a couple really editing areas where we can get help with the vaccination efforts.

Albany Med is gearing up for the full vaccine roll-out program. They are working closely with local health departments to organize the distribution through the eight counties in the Capital Region.

Governor Cuomo announced that he has ordered all New York health insurance companies to cover the costs of the vaccine.

If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up through ServNY. This is New York state's volunteer program.
